Hurting my friends is hard to deal with
It was a Friday night in August of 2004. I had been visiting some friends and i suggested we go for a drive, simply for something to do. There were three of us and I was driving. We were travelling on the highway, it was a 100 km/h speed limit zone. As we were coming around a bend, I simply lost control of the vehicle and collided with a group of trees. Next thing I remember was waking up in hospital 2 weeks later. The extent of my injuries was 3 fractured vertebrae, 2 broken ribs and multiple fractures to my pelvis. My 2 friends also had injuries.
Although my injuries were more serious than my 2 friends, the thought of being responsible for hurting my friends is hard to deal with. Before the accident I was a champion boxer and loved my job. Five years later I am still struggling with pain. What I would like to say is that tragedy can happen at anytime even if you are not drinking or speeding. Drive within your limits and don't let anything distract you. I was lucky that no one died. It could have been a lot worse.
